Ideas on what to do to this narrow walkway in my house
Comments (22)Hi pankaj. Some lovely ideas above. Is that a door at the end of the passage? It strikes me, especially if you want to make the passage all white, that you might be able to give that door a special treatment to bring some drama to the end of the passage. That draws the attention to the door and away from the passage itself. You could just paint it a vivid colour. I think we tend to let our interior doors remain very plain and boring, when there is no good reason for that to be a rule. The one below would need some sort of backing for privacy, I guess, but I think to put metalwork on a door is a great idea that you could adapt in various ways. (Be aware of the dusting, though! Outside the rain will wash things clean, but not inside.) Also have a look at http://www.lushome.com/11-door-decorating-ideas-create-modern-interior-doors/58940 for some creative paint ideas -- I can't get those pictures to copy. I like the first one on that site. It's simple and geometric, and could very easily be adapted without hurting the budget....See MoreNeed artwork placement ideas for large tv wall
Comments (13)I would put the TV on the wall you have the sofa on now and use the larger wall for your sofa. Right now it looks jammed into the corner. It should be fairly easy for the "cable guy" to move your cable outlet to theother wall if you don't have one there already. Or an entertainment unit would be better for your TV set-up on that wall....See MoreHow can you best decorate a rented home?
Comments (3)Firstly, one can play a lot with furnishings if you are staying in a rented apartment. those white walls are nothing but a clean canvas and you can really use colors through your furnishings like cushions , upholstery, curtains , rugs etc to add colors . Secondly , instead of wall shelves etc add small side tables on emptycorners you get etc which gives you platform surfaces to display your nick knacks.. You get many freestanding display shelves online and in market where you don't have to use screws in wall. :)...See MoreWhere's the puja room/space in your home?
Comments (14)One of my clients had no designated space for puja in their home, and they would have had to squeeze it into a passage somewhere. So when they came to me for ideas, I noticed in the floor plan that they had a beautiful covered verandah overlooking a private garden. The wall of that verandah was towards the east side of the garden. So I thought- why not carve out a rustic simple puja space here? Outdoors? The client was game. And this was the result- a 2'-0" x 2'-6" wood panelled niche in the wall, with a simple clay Krishna placed on a wooden bracket with a delicate hanging brass lamp...See MoreAnonymous
