You have to have an idea of what the intended facade elevation might be as you are planning out the floor plan -- as certain effects, massing and roofline work and other don't depending on the perimeter geometry. The actual drawing process is to start with blocking out the general mass. Knowing the intended floor to ceiling heights establishes at least the eave locations and allows you to bump up or down the secondary elements.
Usually I cannot sit down for two or three days continuously to draw this all from beginning to end. I have to do some overlays to test some ideas and then when it is definitive, proceed to finalize the concept. There is some embellishment with shading and landscaping. The elevation facade process can take 4 -6 days.
