Space was very tight in this room so I designed a set of hanging wall and bedside units to go either side of the bed that would give the client a bedside unit plus storage above. The bed is from the Storage Bed company and once again gives more room to tuck things away. A matching double unit and wooden campaign chest of drawers across the room add more hanging/folding space and give texture and warmth. The grey tartan wallpaper gives a bit more texture whilst alss lending a soft texture to highlight the bed as the focal point of the room.

Navy blue grass cloth and navy painted blue trim wraps the master bedroom. A crystal chain chandelier is a dramatic focal point. The tufted upholstered headboard and black stained wood with blackened stainless steel frame was custom made for the space. Navy diamond quilted bedding and light gray sheeting top the bed. Greek key accented bedside chests are topped with large selenite table lamps. A bright nickel sunburst mirror tops the bed. Abstract watery fabric drapery panels accent the windows and patio doors. An original piece of artwork highlighted with a picture light hangs above a small brass bench dressed in the drapery fabric.

DESIGN NEW ENGLAND magazine described Boston designer Lisa K. Tharp's Coastal Loft interiors - where Beach meets SoHo - as living like "an art gallery by the sea". Tharp created a bedroom concept that preserves space for daytime living while tucking the bed in its own cozy alcove. Painted white floors keep things light and airy, while interior windows carry sun and breezes deep into the home. photo: eric roth

Charming, sweet and inviting, this feminine guest bedroom invites visitors to relax and make themselves comfortable and right at home. The green and white color scheme, punctuated with touches of rose, is carefully tied together by coordinating green and white wallpaper, rug, toile draperies, and upholstery fabrics. Antique furniture is showcased to perfection, warming the room and lending an air of masculinity, showing how timeless and classic pieces fit right in today, too. The crystal chandelier replaced a former dated ceiling light and adds the sparkle needed to make the room sing night or day.
