Meal prep is a pleasure in this open kitchen featuring a large island with seating on two sides. There is a double oven, microwave and large refrigerator with double doors.

Cooking essentials are all within reach for the serious chefs in this home! Faced with a cramped eat-in kitchen our job was to both maximize and open up the space. By relocating the refrigerator and surrounding it with pantry cabinets, we were able to create more counter space and allow space for two chefs. Warm stained-wood open corner shelving was installed to display the chefs’ favorite items and keep them right at an arm's reach. The breakfast table is now positioned at the window, giving diners a view of the beautiful backyard. The finishes (Executive Cabinetry - Putnam door style in Alabaster paint; Belgian Blue Satin quartz counters by Alleanza) blend seamlessly with the rest of the home.

TreHus worked from photographs of this home dating back to the early 1900's and with the Minneapolis Historic Preservation Commission to ensure that we honored the home's spirit and heritage throughout the project. Old-world craftsmanship and materials such as the tongue-and- groove boards, beadboard accents on the cabinetry, subway tile, carerra marble, and wide plank pine flooring authentically bring back this home's former glory. In a small kitchen, we make the cabs 15" deep; this additional 3" provides substantially more storage space. This depth also accommodates a GE space saver microwave (fits a 9" x 12" pan) in the upper cabinets, allowing ample room on the countertops for the daily cooking rituals.
