Pune Houzz: A Delicate Palette Makes for Eye-Catching Interiors
This home by AMPM Designs beguiles with its vintage interiors, muted English tones and furniture from the Netherlands
The homeowners wanted a hassle-free space with subtle elegance and a European-style design. By punctuating the home with a material palette of composite wood, paint, marble, glass and metal, Akash and Poonam Mehta, principal designers and co-founders of AMPM Designs, successfully shaped this idea.
The layout incorporates European influences amidst details and subtleties like the velvet upholstery and accent mirrors.
In the dining room, an abstract painting resting against the backdrop of a wallpaper sets up a layered vignette. “Ensconced in the false ceiling, cove lights provide ambient lighting. Mirror panels fitted within the moulding add to sense of expanse,” says Akash Mehta. A semi-open kitchen abuts the dining room.

A camouflaged access point from the lift lobby leads to the informal living room, where the light oak veneer wall panelling lends warmth to the ambience. A marble and veneer wall backs the TV.
Drenched in shades of grey and blue, the guest bedroom (soon to be converted into the son’s bedroom) features Roman blinds and warm wooden flooring. Moulding-trimmed walls provide continuity to the design narrative. The bed is by Kook.

“The master bedroom comes across as a subtle yet plush setting that has silk wall coverings, along with inserted brass accents. Shades of taupe and grey prevail throughout the space. The furniture is sleek and visually light, with the tufted winged headboard stealing the limelight,” says Poonam Mehta.
The formal and informal living rooms open out to a terrace garden designed as an outdoor family lounge with a projector screen.
At the other end of the terrace is an al fresco dining area anchored by a wooden pergola. The wooden dining table features a natural finish, while the rattan chairs add to the natural look.
