Wooden double doors welcome visitors into a low-roofed vestibule characterised by deep-toned wall panelling and hushed decor. A contemporary chandelier hangs over the area, while a pair of mint-hued armchairs on either side provide both functional interludes and spiffy accents. Italian marble adorns the floor, introducing the home’s reigning flooring scheme.

Located to the right of the foyer is the double-height living room, outfitted with muted furniture, artworks and pockets of verdure. A U-shaped seating layout occupies the heart of the room, establishing the room’s dominant ebony-and-ivory palette. A mint armchair completes the arrangement, nodding to the twin seats of the foyer.

A dark console with tchotchkes squares off the room to the right. Glimmers of green enrich the sweeping accent windows, hinting at the lush landscape beyond.

The dining area is situated opposite the living room (to the left of the foyer). Here, a white marble top crowns the dining table, projecting elegance while offering low maintenance. Beige gilt-legged chairs surround the table, injecting the daisy palette with a touch of warmth.

A pocket garden conjures a luxuriant backdrop, acting as a breathing space between the dining area and the staircase behind.
“The dining area is an open zone accessible to both the living room and the kitchen,” says Anu, principal architect and stylist on the project.

Beige facades envelop the kitchen in sandy sunset hues. A cooktop island, overarched by a chimney, lies at the centre of the room, skirted by a continual channel of negative space.
A grid-like display unit serves as a partition between the living room and the den, allowing the latter some much-needed privacy.

Lime-green and ash-hued leather-backed sofas infuse cheery colour into the burnt-orange shell, cured gently by the dove-grey armchairs that rest to the side.
“This room overlooks the private lawn and gazebo, and has an unending view of the paddy fields. It is mainly used as a family sit-out. The divider ensures privacy while also acting as a visual highlight,” says Prashant.
A sweeping spiral staircase leads visitors to the first floor, where a foyer, anchored by armchairs and an oval credenza, indicates the way to the master bedroom, the son’s bedroom, the daughter’s bedroom and the common terrace.

Walnut veneer wall panels characterise the master bedroom, serving as a swish stand-in for a headboard. Pale textured walls juxtapose fittingly against the wood grain, providing welcome pauses between the brooding wooden walls and flooring.
A petite stretch of wood underpins the slumber area, while the surrounding floor wears the sheen of Italian marble.
Opposite the bed, mirror-image periwinkle seating layouts define both corners of the room, echoing the sky outside the window. A balcony sweeps around the room, offering its dwellers a bouquet of vistas to choose from.
“The experience of luxury in the lap of nature is well perceived in this room,” says Prashant.

A beige and charcoal palette wraps the master bathroom, conjuring a sophisticated appeal.
The en-suite walk-in closet mirrors the walnut hues of the master bedroom. Burnished hardware and vintage sconces recall a silent-movie-era vibe, uplifted subtly by contemporary ceiling lights and glass accents. A storage island takes centre stage, stocking trinkets and accessories.

A gabled roof slopes down over the son’s bedroom, highlighted by dark wooden rafters and recessed lighting. A veneered bed back and matching footboard showcase an uneven wood grain, recalling a rustic woodland vibe. The roughness effectively counterbalances the contemporary aesthetic and enriches the light-toned wooden floor. In the corner sit a wooden armchair and tripod table, perfect for rainy day reading.

“The son’s room leads into a wood-veneered bathroom and walk-in closet that reflects the defining design style of the bedroom,” says Anu.
Shades of purple come alive in the daughter’s bedroom, manifesting through the wardrobe facades, tufted headboard and the soft furnishings. Minimalist appearances of grey recur, keeping the purple palette from becoming overbearing. The gabled roof is reminiscent of the son’s bedroom, while bringing about a freshness by way of lighter-toned wooden rafters.
“The banyan tree visible through the French window fills the space with greenery,” says Prashant.

The first-floor terrace is furnished with lazy sun beds, rustic log-cut furniture and a carpet of faux grass. An angular grid pergola reigns over the area, casting ever-changing shadows over the faux lawn throughout the day.
“This terrace is the perfect spot for an early-morning breakfast under the morning sun. It connects to the master bedroom, the son’s bedroom and the daughter’s bedroom,” notes Anu.

The staircase leads visitors further up to the second floor, where an after-hours extravaganza awaits.
A colourful entertainment-cum-party room, hosting navy-blue and tangerine sofas, towering plants and vintage decor, acts as an overture to the convivial exterior.
