Hi Gaurav, It really depends on what kind of circulation you need around this room. Where the door behind the sofa comes from and where the door next to the shelving takes to... What do you have on the wall from where you took the picture? Is it a window? If you are keeping this rug, definitely the best option would be to put one part facing the other and getting yourself a nice rectangular coffee table. On your first option, you can keep the rug and a lower and squared coffee table is needed. But, bear in mid that you are "blocking" the door and the incoming circulation. And on your second option, you would need a new bigger rug to cover the area and most likely side tables near the sofas too. Another idea is having the sofa in L shape, but standing where you were when taking the picture. It would leave the circulation from the door clear. Please let me know what you think. Good luck, Ana

In One such house in Gujarat, Muninder and Bishakha coloured the old sofa set with whtie (The sofa is like yours) and changed the centre table. Interestingly, the family also had your kind of sofa set and they also want some modern style. The architect duo did not changed the sofa, just changed the colour. I think the L shape sofa will look good, with the corner of L placed where you have the Ganesha Idol. you can also place a bench on the opposite side with some colorful cushions on it. It will give you a contrast look and a antique touch to the hall. You can place the Idol elsewhere in the hall, may be just opposite the door ttowards the call. so that whoever enters from that door feels nice/good. I have selected light colors for your hall because your hall has dark color wood work and its making the hall dark. Light color makes your room more bright as you have lot of sunshine coming from the door and windows .
