Is this space big enough for a sunken living??Please advise
Comments (7)This is not the main living. This is a second living at the basement.so will be used for tv viewing and casual family time .Only issue is we will loose 3 feet on the right side as a landing space before entering the bedroom and also around a feet for the steps. After loosing this the area will be around 14feet *9 feet .IS it still ok for a sunken area or will it get congested?...See MoreHow to utilize area under this staircase?
Comments (19)Hi, There are a number of ways in which the area under a staircase can be utilized. In case of a cramped house or space restrictions, this space can be used for providing storage, services or even a powder room as elaborated below : In case there are no space constraints and all the other areas are taken care of, the space below the stairs can be used for add ons such as a library, study, cellar or a minibar. In case there are any dogs in the house, this area serves as a spacious and compact kennel too : Apart from this, if the space is to be treated solely considering aesthetics, it can be livened up using a bit of indoor landscaping, sculptures and water body : Hope these ideas help. Comments (8)Hello there, You have chosen a beautiful shade of yellow for an accent wall. You could install some decor on that wall carrying white/ neutral accents. Second, the curtains needs to be replaced with white/beige blinds or you could install white printed curtains from 2-3' above window sill till floor to create an illusion of space. Third, sofa set could be accented with cobalt blue, emerald green, fuchsia pink, ivory whites, mint etc. to create a sophisticated yet relaxing ambience. Fourth, cushions could be contrasted with colors same as the wall. Graphical and geometric patterns are recommended. Fifth, being most important, upgrade your lighting from led bulbs to 20W led tubelights. They will cover a larger area. As of now, even the colors are light, the room appears stuffy and dimly lit due to insufficient lighting. Comments (77)I feel partitions are not needed. You already have too much for the space. Adding a partition will shrink the space further. The simplistic solution, you do not wish to discard any furniture would be to paint all the walls in lighter pastles. And use some wall painting frames to highlight certain walls....See Moresrilatha1981
