HI RinaI do agree I love jewelbox rooms, but I consider them more cosy ... and with a grey marble floor it goes all Versace Italianate! I am trying to balance the colours by bringing in a pattern on the covers rather than plain. I feel this will bring colour without overpowering the room. In the pictures I showed above, the rooms are basically neutral but the colour is brought in via pattern - I think this might be the way to go...Ideally a green or blue on a subdued grey would be the best, but I dont know what the market is like for Sumit...Cushions can do a lot to tie in the other white/grey elements.Shelley - navy is a good suggestion, but as Sumits area is quite tall and thin, trying to keep the general area light Any more suggestions most welcome. These are just ideas after all and Sumit will choose what works for the room in the end ;-)

Here r the pics. Pic 1 shows the whole room. On left i ll keep my bed. Pic 2 shows the wall no 1. Where i was planning new study n some seating. The old study table will go off. Pic 3. Wall that has air conditioner. Some ideas needed fir this wall too. May be seating or mirror.

Hi Kiran, Before you place any furniture here, you should rethink the existing layout. I would eliminate the 3 internal walls around the puja room, and convert the areas of the living, puja, dining and kitchen, into a singular larger space. This is simply for better air circulation and overall aesthetics of the flat - to make it feel larger. You will now have an open kitchen - which can be shut by either a glass sliding folding partition, or with a half wall with a breakfast bar. You can use furniture smartly to create privacy for individual areas. You can also change the locations of the doors to the bedrooms, by not having them from the dining space, but from the passage outside the bathrooms; so that a larger table right in the centre with a dining credenza by one of the walls, thereby making the dining space a bit enclosed and not accessible from 3 sides. To answer your main question, you can have the television on the common wall between the living and bathroom (5'x8'); an L-shaped sofa can be placed along the same wall as the entrance door. Vinod, Bedrooms are a relaxing place, where you should have as less distractions as possible. Having a big mirror facing you could keep you engaged before sleeping and may thus cause a little late sleeping. However, we don't throw out the mobile for the same reason ..do we ;) While you are not in a deep sleep and if you suddenly get up (your senses are only half awake) first thing you see is a reflection of yourself and that too in a dishevelled condition it may startle, shock or even scare you depending on the lighting condition.
