I would brighten it up by painting the walls a more neutral color. Adding new bedding and fun pillows, artwork, etc. will add punches of color that will work nicely with the neutral backdrop. As a student I know designing in a budget friendly way is important. If you have an Ikea, HomeGoods, Gordmans or At Home to shop at, these are all great places to pick up interesting and fun pieces without breaking the bank. As far as space planning, from the picture it looks like a fairly long/narrow space- I would keep the bed at the back, back a sofa up to that and add a couple of comfy chairs and maybe an area rug. Dont forget the artwork too, this adds a very important layer to your space. Hope this makes sense and helps!

1). Plz remove the TV panel, its breaking the space on the wall, apply a wall paper or texture on the entire wall, add a self b/w TV n base unit, use conduit to conceal all wires. 2). Curtains till skirting level both on windows n doors is much needed of. Don't keep shear fabric curtains only on windows. You can mix 2 cotton curtains of contrasting colours as per your room colour n can add a white shear fabric curtain in between to enhance the look. 3). A matching khadi spread on floor at sofa Place will be great along with matching cushion on sofa to tie entire room elegantly in one theme. 4).The blue colour wall can be of some light color as per the curtains with few shelves to keep some light weight decora with accent lights highlighting the art pieces

Hello Tarun, Change the Wall color , Repaste some light color wallpaper , Hang some nice quotes and pictures, get the themed poster, artfacts, hangings etc. Use dark colored wooden Furniture with light color skin (fabric cover) The Flooring is quite dull for the room size, use carpets and rugs on exposed areas. For more , it might go to high end budget and need to be consulted to architect or designer.
