This is a dilemma indeed! Posts in the middle of rooms are always a little difficult. It would be helpful to have pictures of all four walls to suggest the best layout. From what I can understand of your dilemma, I've attached a layout that may work based on your description. It features a defined entry. So when you walk through the front door, you will see a console table with a couple of ottomans stashed beneath. They can come in handy for extra seating. In front of the console are two arm chairs, followed by a modular sectional - they make up your main seating area. To the right of the kitchen door is a TV console. Behind the sofa is a bookcase and to the right is a round table with a couple of chairs for games, paper work or what have you. You don't mention any windows. Is this the case? If so, we'll want to make sure you've got adequate lighting and colors that will work with the limited light. Hope this helps!

In the empty space between the cabinets you can have such floating shelves to place books or any display items. You can buy them online o even get them made at any carpentry shop. You could have white to keep the uniformity or blue as a contrast to the white cabinets and matching the blue skirting and table top and the wall too. As a DIY you could instead make a french memo board in a a kickass grey or beige and keep your memos, notes, photos and everything else. Hang your earphones and cables from it, keep your guitar plectrums etc. You will find lots of DIY tutorials for this. This could go well in the space between the cabinets as well and gel with the study area.

I assume that the pieces you have displayed in this corner are items that mean a lot to you. I remember being a newlywed and had to do solely with what I had on hand to make our house feel like our very own home. I added/replaced pieces a little at a time and finally completed the look I was envisioning. Below is my suggestion on how to get the items a bit more balanced to the eye. But in the end, I believe that the decors in your home all depends on how they make you feel in your heart when you look at them. The first one made use of some books and made sure the wall outlet was hidden within the wall shelf - assuming there is no constant need to use them. The second is an example where if you can buy only one piece to add, I suggest a piece to completely cover the outlet and take advantage of the conversational bubble style of the wall shelf. I think all white will be a very nice scheme and the differences in the white will just add subtle difference. In the above pic the walls are more white than the table, but mixing with the light tan colours and greyish tones makes this gradient of whitish tones work well.This room is all white as well with the furniture and walls, but adding the punch of the other colours masks if the whites are slightly different as the bright colours become the focus. The walls in the pic below 'read' a very pale grey so that would be an option, just ensure that it is a whitish-grey and not muddy or warm. I would choose the sofa colour as your main colour and accents to match from there.
