Kitchen Island Lights

Hi everyone. Could I please have your advice about the size of pendant lights over my new island? Not yet installed but trying to plan ahead! The island is large, 2432 x 1170mm, and I would like the 'traditional' three pendants. I have seen some shades I like with a diameter of 30cm, will they be big enough? I don't want them to look out of proportion....is there a 'rule' to follow? Thanks

Size of pendants will depend also how large the room is. Unfortunately there are no special rules regarding this. But to be on the safe side I would recommend to choose something about 20-25 cm as there will be 3 pendants. Size of attached island is approximately same as yours.

Thank you! It is a large room as it includes sitting and dining areas too. Can I ask where these lights are from? Thanks

Islands do add glamour to kitchen spaces but some people would rather have an open airy space to groove to their playlist while cooking (yes, that would be me)! So which one are you? Comment and tell us!

Hello there, Since you have put an all white kitchen with recessed lighting, you won't be needing much lumens for the island. As for the length, two small pendants with 12/15W lamps spaced 2-3' apart would be enough to illuminate the space. It's always better than one large pendant because it disperses light over a larger area and aesthetically pleasing as well. Regards, Aurum Ideas and Spaces India

Take a look at Firstlight’s “victory” pendant - we’ve just fitted them on an island your size and they look great.
