Since you have put an all white kitchen with recessed lighting, you won't be needing much lumens for the island.

As for the length, two small pendants with 12/15W lamps spaced 2-3' apart would be enough to illuminate the space.

It's always better than one large pendant because it disperses light over a larger area and aesthetically pleasing as well.

Thank you, India!. I did order the 2 smaller Hicks pendants, but my new struggle is coordinating the dining room and living room light fixtures. The walls are BM white dove an the French doors and window sahes are soft black. We were going for a more contemporary look.

I should have been more clear. I was always getting 2 pendants. I was debating on the size.

As you have already ordered you could try them in Kitchen or in other peripheral areas which could use a pendant like a foyer or gazebo. But still, the 12.5" would be an appropriate fit.
