Need help to decorate a bedroom
Comments (9)You can work with your currant wall color or go more yellow - that is up to you. If you do decide to go more yellow. get some small inexpensive sample bottles at the paint store, paint some poster board and hang it on a wall for couple of days because getting the right buttery yellow can be hard. A soft yellow and lavender is pretty together but I also like the sea green. When you said a combo of modern and cottage - that made me think of beach cottages, which often have soft colors (including sea green) and unfussy, calm interiors. You can put a large painting up if you have the wall space for it. Many bedrooms have tall chest, dresser mirror, tall headboard and big TV, all which take up wall space. If you can hang the painting without it being crowded by any of the things I mentioned, it should look very nice. If you wish to do a curtain fabric treatment to a wall and you have the vision of what you want - then go for it. I had a friend who did that in collage - only problem was the yards and yards of fabric needed got rather expensive. So, I would start with finding bedding you love. Simple white is good, and not too expensive. However, you might find something else light that you love, or a quilt or throw for the bottom of the bed and the colors and shades might lead you in a different direction for wall color or accents. So bedding first, then curtains, then see how your wall color is and then add accents and art - although your painting can also be an inspiration for colors....See MoreBedroom flooring dilemma, Hardwood in main areas, Large bathroom files
Comments (9)Hello April, It's an old wood floor and each slab of wood accepts the stains differently so getting exact match is very difficult. Sanding, staining and repolishing the existing flooring to match the new floor is a likely solution to your dilemma. Its a messy and time taking procedure though. Easier way out would be to check with original vendor if he still sells the same variety. Or request them to visit with some other matching samples. Comments (12)that's right. a column like this is not a handicap at all. it's not too deep, so it does not take up much space. As kalatmak space has suggested, one of its uses would be to place a cove light. you can also extend a shallow shelf of the same depth above the bed to place tiny led lights below it and light up the wall behind. then you can also do a false wall extension behind to place the bed against it and create a little niche above the bed head. you could paint that niche in a different colour...See MoreBedroom Styling Ideas
Comments (9)Hi Manaswini, First decide if you want the bedroom to be bright and airy or dramatically dark as this will influence the type of monochromatic look you are going for. If you veer towards the former then keep a majority of your bedding white or light grey while the adding a hint of darkness through a few small cushions. On the flip side, if you want a dark and cosy bedroom, then opt for a plain dark bedding that contrasts with the duvet. We suggest opting for a dark grey/brown rather than a going for completely black sheets as this adds visual interest. You can bring in pops of colour through the elements of decor such as a large piece of artwork above the bed, a rug under the bed or a lamp on the side table. Even a simple flower vase on the side table can help you add colour. If you'd like to discuss this further, reach out to us.
