Ankur, There is no point leaving a dead space. Please check with builder if you can shift the french window by a feet out. Rather use this standing space in the interiors and when you need you can open this window. Many builders are now providing this feature as a USP calling it a BALDOW.. Hi, Dr. Shetty, looking at your layout and primary concerns of kitchen and bathroom leakage, I would suggest tackling this issue with your building authorities first. Another alternative could be fixing this up with water proofing / chemical treatment along with your complete home interior work. The latter would be a more feasible option in terms of budget and execution. As far as budget is concerned it depends on a lot of factors like your requirements, design, detailing, finishes and materials chosen and in your case the circumstances of the home since its more than 3 years old. Hope this helps you in taking your home design process ahead.
