The cost depends on your requirement. A thumb rule for interiors the Budget Range is 5-10% of property value. Premium range is 15-25% and Luxury range would be 25%+ property value.

Hi , There are various methods for calculation. @ Cornerstone Design Studio India has told you one of the ways to calculate.

Let's look at various other ways as well

1. On the basis of the property value (as mentioned above)

It shows the lifestyle of the space you stay at, so an interior designer can justify the design standards. (For example, xerbia apartments and fashion residences are two different classes )

2. Area of the flat (sqft pricing)

It's generally an sqft rate calculated on the carpet area. ranges from 1000-2500/ sqft. It depends on the scope of work- demolition, civil work, full interiors, decor. Your designer will best tell you how to go about it.

*This model is preferred for commercial interior setups where less intervention is required, but some home designers do that.

Note: We feel home interiors are personal projects and need lots of attention and individual member choices are to be considered.

3. Percentage based fees for designer

Ranges From 10% TO 20%, Again depends upon what services you are taking

a) Only design,

b) Design+ project management (labor )

c) Design+ Purchase management + project management (labor )

Pros: You can be open about your budget with your designer, whether its 25lakhs or 1cr. The integrity of both parties remains well.

Just to clarify, - the above recommended % value is a thumb rule/ guideline for deciding on the overall budget and not the calculation of charges.

Example if one has a 100 lakh home and they chose to spend 5- 10 lakhs on Interior furnishing. They can expect it to be a decent home suitable for tenancy and not some thing high end considering the property value.

Use your property value on the above scale see the comfort on value for your interiors. Once you have a ball park range you can ask your designer about the best things that can be achieved in that budget .
