I second patricia, make it all the same flooring. I did the 'wood floor in the walk in closet' while the rest was tile, ended up taking it out and just tiling everything, the threshold was collecting dust and grime and annoying for my laundry cart.

Do you need a "floor" (as in marble, tile, wood, cork, etc) or do you need "floor plans"? Your post is a bit confusing. Has the building been built? Is this an appartment? And what is a "step"? Are you discussing "stairs" or are you describing how many "steps" it takes for you to walk from one wall to another?

Djhamu, Description is good but better post the pics. Color choices are extremely subjective. First option is to make your own choices: look at 1000s of pics mark/collect them, identify what is that you like and then use android apps to see how it looks on your actual walls. Go for a sample and then fall in love with it. Second option is to hire a professional who will understand you and help you select one.
