- Changing from your existing masonry fireplace to the linear gas fireplace in the photo you posted a link to would likely be fairly expensive, as it would require removing/modifying the masonry of your existing fireplace, but there are other approaches you might consider. One of the keys to modern is minimalism. You might try keeping the appearance as uncluttered as possible - perhaps by removing an existing mantel or stripping away other elements to leave only the most essential parts. If it is a wood burning fireplace, the building code requires that you leave non-combustible hearth protection in front of the fireplace, but you might be able to change the hearth material to make it more modern (pink wall with hearth flush on floor). The other thing you might consider is changing over to a modern gas burner, with glass media or stones (first photo, with black mantel). There are gas inserts that are beautiful as well last photo with stone wall), but the investment goes up when you get into a full system with firebox, surround, venting etc. If you have a photo of your current situation, we might be able to tailor our suggestions to be more helpful.

there is many types of support to be used for counter top for long lasting work... as ... 1) brick wall which takes 2" , 4" or 6" thickness space which is not good for below space as we will waste space for storage under counter... this is used where heavy material is used on top of counter for cutting any food items... 2) marble support... which will take 35mm thk space double support... 3) furniture base if the kitchen working person is using the sink properly for washing purpose and the gaps between the sink and counter top has to be sealed properly for leakage free to avoid any damages for below storage, as i will not prefer this in other area... this can be used only in foreign countries...

I would suggest you to go for either actual stone cladding or ceramic wall tiles. Natural stone cladding provides a rich look to your walls and last comparatively longer than wallpaper. Although initial cost might appear to high but in the long run, it is the cost-effective solution for your walls as it requires very low-maintenance. Going for wallpaper would not be a very nice option especially if you are looking for something long-lasting. They not only get damaged easily because of moisture or other factors but would also stain your wall when they come out. Ceramic tiles is also a nice option to go for. You can get a huge variety in terms of size, colour, pattern etc. If you are looking for not-so-expensive option then ceramic mosaic tiles is the viable option. However, you should know that ceramic tiles take quite a long time to warm up during winters and cool down during summers. Wooden Planks would make your interior look elegant but it is very susceptible to temperature change and can easily get damaged with water. Also it might not go too well with modern architecture.
