The main issue is that local ordinances require setbacks from property lines and these free samples may not fit what your local building department may require. You can usually access the setback information from your building department online, but a trip down to talk to a planner may be necessary. Start there, finding a house plan that fits within that footprint is the second step.

Do they have to be paint buckets? I would think they would not be good for gardening? Maybe others will know more about that. But in the U.S. you can get 5 gallon buckets from some local businesses like bakeries, food store chains, places like those that regularly use items they get in the buckets. For instance a bakery usually gets stuff in 5 gallon buckets and often has to throw them into a dumpster as they can only save so many. Some businesses now sell them for a small fee, maybe 1 dollar U.S. each and some just give them away. I think the cost of shipping them to India would be more than the cost of buying them. You could try setting up a fund on Kiva.org and possibly get enough donations to purchase food grade buckets instead of using ones from paint. Many people these days opt for puja room in guest bedrooms, due to limitation of other spaces. Since living room while entertaining guests there is alcohol consumption, non veg food, dancing, so it could be more disgraceful than a guest room. So, I guess that's fine. I am suggesting the bed on the west wall (the headrest on West Wall) so that you are facing the east (that's Vastu compliant). The bed goes where the wardrobe currrently is. The temple on the North wall with the Gods facing South or West wall with Gods facing east. Rest you could add a bench under the window for seating while enjoying the sunlight and a console on the South wall.
