I guess you should consider getting it covered with upholstery adding a nice and cosy cushioned pad where you can relax with a pillow and comfortably maintain your posture when you lay around as well. Think about it!

We certainly have an overdose of dark brown here ! You don't need all that brown on your head board wall.

Suggest that your headboard and foot board should be in a bright color upholstery.

You can talk to sofa makers in your area to do that for you..in case you haven't come across that. Some samples..

Apologies for the late response! Upholstery is the work of providing furniture with nice cushioned padding, webbing or coverings with fabric/leathers. I can see above that a pro has already given you a reference pic for the same so follow any design that matches the concept of your space! Good Luck :)
