Need help with my living room
Comments (138)Leather sofas can really dominate the room and can give an overall cold feeling. I would add some earthy elements, like a wood coffee table with glass or metal. Go to Restoration Hardware's website and look at their sofa room scenes. And I'm sorry I think the art is too harsh for the room. That's all your eye goes to in the room. too overpowering. I would look for something softer or maybe a cool mirror and I would add color to the room with pillows and some colorful lamps. I also think woven blinds would look great. They add warmth and give a finished look. The color of your window treatments should contrast your wall color a bit, not match it or else it starts to look generic and blah.. You have warm walls, warm floors and the woven blinds, like Hunter Douglas brand would pull it all together for you....See MoreNeed help to enhance my new home exterior design
Comments (10)Thanks a lot for your valuable suggestions and comments Rusty Empire, decoenthusiaste, emmarene & Chikka BangBang. My home is located in a small village in India. We initially planned to renovate our old home. But during the middle of renovation work, we changed our mindset to build a new one. Hence we made a house design by ourselves(3BHK) with the help of our local builder and to save the cost we tried to reuse all possible materials that were extracted while demolishing our old home((i.e.., like red tiles placed on the top of left side of porch). The project is in last phase, now I feel that still we could do something to enhance the beauty of exterior of home by getting some ideas from experts. I like to thank everyone once again for sharing your thoughts! @Rusty Empire : The entire building shown in pic is a single building, because of our inexperienced design it looks like disjointed:(:(. We just finished the painting of primer coating, yet to paint the final color. The pic you posted with color looks awesome, planning to paint the same color. I believe it would change the entire view of building @decoenthusiaste : The entire building shown in pic is a single building. Will post more pics in coming days, pls review it and share your thoughts. @emmarene : Right now I'm at my work place, so I don't have a main entrance pic with me. Will post it by this weekend. Please review it and share your valuable thoughts. @Chikka BangBang: That's gr8 idea, will think abt it. Thanks!...See MoreNeed help on bedroom
Comments (24)Keya, glad you decided to take the one reader's idea about moving the armoires in front of windows that you don't need and giving the bed a wall of its own! And, yes, you can have Roman shades on one wall and layered drapes on the other. When I had drapes made for my tall sitting room windows/doors, I had them use the same fabric for the Roman shades for the smaller windows on the other wall. For me personally, in these older Indian homes with all the odd nooks and niches in the walls, perhaps it would be more soothing to have a light/med tone paint on the walls that blends with the drapes/blinds for an 'uninterrupted' look, and I would use the same color on ceiling and beams. (but that is just my thought) I would start the process with a large carpet with your favorite colors, then choose your Bedcover & cushions, then your wall paint and fabric for drapes/blinds ..Not certain what style you like, but if you really like a particular Ethnic bedcover fabric, you can always have them stitched into curtains or Roman shades too. Can't wait to see the "After" pics!...See Moreneed help for tv placement
Comments (14)Hi Manas, There is one option i.e. if you don't want to do any major changes you will have to take the wiring from sofa wall till TV wall and you can hide it using conduit. Or You can take a grove from one wall till the partition wall and get it filled. Partition is supposed to be a ply wall of 3 inches which will have framework in center and ply on either sides. We are attaching two reference images one with designer panel and one with plane. You can use whichever you like. We hope this will help you achieve your required design. In case of doubt, queries are most welcome. Best Regards Team Offroad...See MoreCornerstone Design Studio India
