since you havent mentioned the size of the room or attached a plan.. I do not know how much space you have to play around with. I mean whether you want a bunk bed for the lack of space or you want to give the boys one more for the fun that comes with it.
attaching some concepts that would fit into both situations.
this is a rustic looking one where your younger one could have fun getting in through the window. the light on top could help serve as a dim night light. its look being mainly rustic, you could introduce fun through personalized cushions and whimsical patterns on curtains and bed spreads.
this is a more compact option with plenty storage. The colours could be used to add some fun into the room.
theme based - this one highlights the height of your space too. If you have good ceiling height, this will stand out. based on a sporty theme, with a dart on the wall and a rope to hang and jump down to the ground from instead of climbing it down, you could personalize it more with soft furnishings weaved around a sports theme or add some rugs shaped like a basketball etc.
if your room is long and narrow - this is a good option as well. you could replicate this into two. - so you have the same space for both your boys with the bed above and a play or study area beneath. rustic shades mixed with bright yellows and blues to add that pop of colour will definitely bring the place alive.
again if youre looking for compact options - this one is another away from the conventional style - instead of having beds one above the other - these are offset to the right and left with storage taking in , into the offsets. predominantly a white and black design which you could bend to your liking and idea of fun by probably giving it colourful shutters and personalized bed spreads and cushions.
all in all a fun version of their very own house
compact neat and playing along a music theme. maybe you could make the steps black and white to resemble piano keys and make the railing with varying thicknesses of metal rods on which they could actually play music on - like a xylophone.
another sports themed room - incase you have the place - a basket ball court can add all the fun when inside a bedroom - vinyl flooring will meet your requirement best in this case.
with a larger double bed below and a study table on each side or in a L shape - so its fit for both of them - depending on the space of course - this is another theme room with elements of fun on the walls and decorative pieces used.
again a bed that resembles a shack is enough to send their imagination flying! swings below can always lead to fun bonding times for the brothers.
bunk beds and open storage ideas. bunk bed with slide on left may have drawers to it for storage. if two kids sharing a room. have individual sleek wardrobe and some open sections to dump their stuff is great way to keep room cleaned by them gradually.
