Where's the puja room/space in your home?
Comments (14)One of my clients had no designated space for puja in their home, and they would have had to squeeze it into a passage somewhere. So when they came to me for ideas, I noticed in the floor plan that they had a beautiful covered verandah overlooking a private garden. The wall of that verandah was towards the east side of the garden. So I thought- why not carve out a rustic simple puja space here? Outdoors? The client was game. And this was the result- a 2'-0" x 2'-6" wood panelled niche in the wall, with a simple clay Krishna placed on a wooden bracket with a delicate hanging brass lamp...See MoreHall with no foyer and no parallel complete walls.
Comments (6)TV position looks good to me as is. All you need to do is bring the sofa in the center of the living room - and facing the TV unit (see how much space are you getting around to walk) You can have a nice central rug and dazzling chandeliers / hanging lights above the sofa set. The wall opposite entrance can be your feature wall because it faces the entrance so everytime someone enters , they will see that wall first and it should create an impact. The feature wall ideas include - Have a beautiful Mandir there ( I don't know what the Vastu is of the flat so plan accordingly) or make it a nice reading nook with a lazy couch / chair and a lamp or planter . If you don't wish to do any of the above then make an accent wall - have a very quirky wallpaper backdrop and have two high back chairs with a coffee table. you can have innovative hanging lights on any one side. If you want to increase utility of your house then you can also have a sofa cum bed there - which can be used by guests / friends etc....See MoreLayout and overall design for long living room
Comments (8)Hey Rohit, One thing we have learned that it is difficult to convert our weaknesses to strengths, but it is very doable! 42' of living and dining room space could be advantageous! off the top of our heads, here are a few things you could do. Split the space into formal and informal seating areas, basically creating 2 rooms (not counting the dining) in one space Push the dining in the middle of the room, closer to the middle bedroom, and add a swing near the balcony. In case the large size makes it uncomfortable, you can add a partition between the dining and balcony. and design the space in a way that opening the balcony doors, converts your indoors to outdoors, creating the feel of a terrace. lastly, the simplest of solutions would be to add a partition (solid or otherwise) to divide in room into 2 parts, a living space and a dining space! We hope this helps. In case you need Drawings to understand the space and out idea of the space utilization, please feel free to get in touch with us and we would love to work with you! Comments (18)Hello Aditi, As an Interior Designer I keep few things in mind for vastu. God can face any direction except for North. And Headboard also should not be in North direction. Your earlier plan for puja place is also fine. You may also place it beside tv unit with nice jali door, facing south or west direction. Or in the kitchen at entrance with elevated on wall but you have to make the door sliding one....See MoreP K Associates
