Adding a tub to a small bathroom

I'm trying to figure out how we can add a bathtub to top story of your home (currently under construction). It's a 4 bed, 4 bathroom but we want to convert the main bathroom into a wet room but this would leave us without a tub which wouldn't be ideal as we hope there will babies joining us in the coming years. Any suggestions most welcome. All I can think is to put a tub lengthways and place the toilet next to it. Not sure if the dimensions will be too tight though. Thanks in advance. You could fit in a tub across from the toilet, just be sure to bring your measurements with you when you are shopping! If you needed to create a little extra space, you could also opt for a corner sink- which would free up a bit more wall to fit in the bath!

We also bought our house before babies - but I can now tell you they usually are mainly in the tub yrs1-8 maybe even 10 or 11! We opted to put both a tub (with an electric shower) and a walk-in shower / wet room type arrangement in the main bathroom. Seems like a lot in 1 place but works for us.

Thanks for the reply. Hope the 5ft bath is good enough, and the place dont look cramped. Anyway I will consult the builder out here to see what we can do. Please post pictures once you have redone. Best wishes on your project.

Hi. We have changed it to a 8 X 6 in the new plan as we felt the earlier one is too small. Yes, an enclosed shower stall would be great to keep the dry and wet area separate. However, wondering if it is too small.

Sorry but I don't understand your pictures. You are talking about 2 bathrooms but we see only one floor plan. Is the 1.52M x 2.24M the 5 x 8 bathroom in your dilemma title. If so, can we see the floor plan of the 5 x 9 bathroom? Is the space with a small rectangle in the middle the extra 5.5 x 4.9 ft space you mentioned in your dilemma? Also 1.52M x 2.24M is in reality 5'0" x 7'4". This is 8 in. less. It can make a big difference on how to place fixtures in a bathroom.

I agree with divadeva. More lights. If you can add pot lights do it. If they're already there add task lighting and up the wattage on the bulbs on the pot lights (replace with LED and you can make them brighter because the wattage on LED is lower for brighter light). If you have all of that add decorative lighting. If ventilation is an issue find a way to move the air around or add air filtration. Maybe the HVAC is deficient. Maybe you can add a HEPA filter instead of the standard one that comes with the unit. Call an HVAC specialist to see if there is a way to boost air flow in the room.
