white walls will be great as it will help make the living space look wide, bright and high. but adding a little colour to your furniture will just help you enhance your living room. we have done a similar room sharing the image

Not a very good option for indian family lifestyle at least. But again its a subjective matter, depends on the choices.
White is best when it is a Pure 'Minimal' Design.
British Architect John Pawson is one i find best in my knowledge till now who is doing minimal architecture in its purest form.
And i don't see any in india who is doing such work.

Just because we feel white colour will attract dirt and stains doesn't make it not unusable. don't we wear white shirts? the key word is maintenance which is an important feature for any good design. If you want non-maintainable products in your design why not look at rustic designs. they do look awesome even when with stains and muck around.
