I have 3 feet wide & 10 feet long balcony attached to the dining area. It is more like a standing balcony, i plan on adding greenery, and decorate it with some terracotta stuff, pebbles & make it look like an attached conservatory to the dining. My problem is, it is way too narrow a balcony and i want to design it aesthetically. I also plan on adding glass sliding doors and cover the roof top & sides of the balcony with the glass, add some color to the walls to give it a conservatory look. Again, safety & privacy is an issue. Asking for too much? I need to know if this is feasible and will look good. It is currently under construction. Any ideas & suggestions are welcome!

Hi Nirudu. Congrats on the purchase! I have lived in London for a decade and understand your query. As you know homes are compact in London and with the gloomy weather almost year round, developers tend to go for the standard magnolia for the walls and white for the ceiling for maximum light refection, at the same time give a warm atmosphere during night with warm white lights complementing the magnolia walls. I would suggest you keep the rooms nice and bright but instead use pop up colours in your furnishings to personalise your home. Example:

There is a lot of concerns when you're constructing a new floor and want to merge with the existing building. Please consult with your local architect for a contemporary look. Few things that needs to be incorporated : 1. Replace the overhangs with a contemporary shade structure. 2. Replace the traditional designs on balcony with SS and glass. Repeat on the new balconies 3. Incorporate ACP/ fibre cement panels throughout the facade. 4. Wooden paint / slats on the balcony roof 5. GFRC jaali on boundary wall alongwith stone cladding. 6.
