what type of flooring is ideal for a kitchen ?
Comments (4)You list is all "stone" products. Stone products are natural. The durability is guaranteed with stone. Stain resistant...remove marble and granite from your list. Both can stain and etch and both will do this with "flooring" more than they will with a counter top. Gloss levels all change...but it will take years to do it. All stones have maintenance = homeowner needs to work at keeping stone looking good. Stone = expensive. There is no "benefit" for "reasonable" when working with stone. They all cost plenty of money. Stone is expensive. No way around it. If you want "glossy" that doesn't stain for a "good price" then you have forgotten to mention the BEST option: porcelain tiles. Porcelain will do everything you want for a lower price. Stone is expensive, it can stain (especially "oil" stains) it will "etch" or lose gloss level with certain liquids (acid based liquids will do this) and they all need to be maintained and eventually need repolishing to maintain "gloss". Durable is all you can expect out of stone. The rest of your wish list belongs with porcelain tiles....See MoreHelp me decide floor tiles people!
Comments (21)I am assuming you haven't finalised your wall colours and colours of any other fixed elements. In case you have finalised your color scheme you would need to see which of these colours blend well or complement with that scheme. Assuming none of this info is available, then you could look at the neutrals which go with all colours. The white tile and the 2 colours at the end would be preferable. If you want color on the floor as well as drama, you can choose from the 2nd options from both sides or even the 1st from left....See MoreHow to use combination of wooden & coloured cement tiles for flooring?
Comments (5)Hello there, When you are going for wooden and concrete texture, the decor you need to put must complement the interiors. If going for traditional and rustic finishes, athangudi tiles would really help for outdoor and indoors as well. They go seamlessly well with wooden textured tiiles/ wooden floors/ Try to add wooden rafters/ slats to sitouts and balconies to enhance a few aesthetics. If going for contemporary finish, try IPS (Indian Patent Stone) flooring for outdoors and indoors as well. These are basically concrete slabs with iron oxide paints on top and come in a wide array of colors including copper sulphate blue. If planning for cement tiles, try Bharat Floorings . They have been manufacturing concrete tiles for almost century. Blue with wooden, if used generously, lends a beach house/ marine theme to overall decor . If that's your preference, then do not hesitate for a moment. Regards, Aurum Ideas and Spaces Bhubaneswar...See Moredoes green turf need a border
Comments (6)HI Reena, There are a few considerations you need to look at if you want the use artificial turf carpets for your needs. 1. Slope of your balcony. - Check if the water drains out without stagnating or pooling anywhere. If it does then you need to get your mason or civil engineer to get the slope fixed or a quick fix for this is to use drain cells under the artificial carpet which will keep a gap between the carpet and the pooled water letting the water dry out faster and avoiding wet patches on the carpet. 2. Thickness Artificial grass carpets come in fixed sizes, usually 5 to 6.5 feet x 50m length rolls with thickness from 25mm, 35mm, 40mm, 50mm, 60mm. 40mm+ carpets are usually better quality and last longer. There are many grades of quality, the more you spend the better quality and longevity you will get. If you want a border of another material, say pebbles, wood or tile, you will need to keep this border material at the same level / thickness of the carpet so that one does not trip while walking or kick up the carpet. I have seen people trip and fall on uneven surfaces like this so match the materials thickness. Eg: 40 mm carpet with 40mm pebbles or deck tiles. We have done pebble border with border railing planters in one project as well as wood deck tiles with grass carpet but note that the thickness is the same so while walking from one surface to another it is seamless and comfortable. See pictures below. 3. Borders The base of the carpet is made of a thick rubber mat with holes for drainage. If one does not cut the carpet to the exact measurements of the floor space, it will be kicked up while stepping into the balcony and will also look bad with shabby edges. Make sure you measure and cut the carpet to the borders on site. You can also use a high strength adhesive double sided tape on the bottom of the carper to anchor it down on the borders. Looks like you will have to cut the carpet on site as your balcony is 5' and standard carpet sizes are 5.5' to 6.5' The edge does not look rough if you cut it straight but I recommend you fill out the borders with other outdoor materials like wood deck tiles or planks, pebbles, gravel, planters, etc. Hope this helps. All the best!...See MoreDebbie Daly -Sophistication in Design Ltd.
