Hi frez1001. What a beautiful bath this is going to be. I'm assuming from your description that the back splash material will cover the entire wall. Because your bathroom is small, you would do well to keep the materials all the same.

My advice is to continue the counter top material up on to the wall. It looks as though the counter top veining is more subtle than the flooring. That's a positive for any wall treatment you're going to be doing.

Two inch by four inch might create a busy pattern right where you need to use the mirror. Can you size-up a bit to a three inch by six inch? Fewer grout lines, less texture, easier on the eyes.

Love the walnut and marble. Elegant and classic.

Hey frez1001! I really like the tile on the left, but I don't think it goes well with the paint color. I would eliminate the middle tile altogether. Like the marble, but have you considered a light matte grey subway tile? Something that really ties into the grey in the marble and works with the grey on the walls?

Of your choices, I like the marble best. I think your paint color is just too dark for a smaller space and doesn't show well with the marble.

none of those subways look good w/the paint. try a nice mosaic. this is white thassos marble. or do a carrara,,,,

I'm just concerned that an entire wall of mosaic tiles would vibrate your eyeballs in the morning when you're trying to get ready! Antique mirror tiles are beautiful in the right context. I wonder if they would be a little busy and bling-y in a classic/modern bathroom like yours.

Hey Beth H! I can see that you've been thinking in terms of a large mirror. Since there's only one sink, I've been seeing a not-as-large mirror in my mind, leaving lots of tile exposed. If frez1001 is thinking large mirror, patterned mosaic might work. And, with a large mirror, you can tile only where the mirror isn't and use less tile if you like.

I would continue with marble. It can be a different pattern, but given that it is a small bathroom, it won't look busy and competitive with other tile. I think it will also look timeless. Sometimes going the simple way goes a long way.
