One possibility would be to swap the living room and the dining room. Since the current living room is larger than the current dining room you could still keep some comfortable seating (couch and upholstered chairs?) against the front wall for a keeping room/dining concept. Then your new dining areas (kitchen and dining room) and living areas (living and drawing room) would have good flow between them, which would work well both for family and entertaining. You could also add some builtin bookshelves in the drawing room or new living room to create a library area to add another fun element to the living areas. These bookshelves could be against the long walls in the drawing room, around the window with a window seat in the living room (former dining room), or built to create some separation in the open area between the drawing room and living room/stair area. Your plan seems to show some sort of builtin there, but I'm not sure what it is.

If this was a master bathroom instead of a common or guest bath, I would shift the choices of stone and tile from white plus white to a lovely off-white, cream, or almond tone - like travertine. You list is all "stone" products. Stone products are natural. The durability is guaranteed with stone. Stain resistant...remove marble and granite from your list. Both can stain and etch and both will do this with "flooring" more than they will with a counter top. Gloss levels all change...but it will take years to do it. All stones have maintenance = homeowner needs to work at keeping stone looking good. Stone = expensive. There is no "benefit" for "reasonable" when working with stone. They all cost plenty of money. Stone is expensive. No way around it. If you want "glossy" that doesn't stain for a "good price" then you have forgotten to mention the BEST option: porcelain tiles. Porcelain will do everything you want for a lower price. Stone is expensive, it can stain (especially "oil" stains) it will "etch" or lose gloss level with certain liquids (acid based liquids will do this) and they all need to be maintained and eventually need repolishing to maintain "gloss". Durable is all you can expect out of stone. The rest of your wish list belongs with porcelain tiles.

Hi all, My existing kitchen needs a major revamp and I am currently in the process of talking to kitchen vendors to redo the whole thing and also add a kitchen island for regular dining. I am a bit confused about what finishes to go for to achieve a classy yet fun kitchen. I love the Spanish/ Moroccan tiles that are in style these days and would love to use them on the back splash and floor. Also, mostly got to go with black granite counter tops to survive Indian cooking. For top cabinets, If i got with white matte/hi-gloss(you can suggest which easy to maintain and look good) and wood veneer on bottom cabinets, would it be too busy and clash ?
