Kitchen Reno: Design Dilemma!

Hi all,

My existing kitchen needs a major revamp and I am currently in the process of talking to kitchen vendors to redo the whole thing and also add a kitchen island for regular dining. I am a bit confused about what finishes to go for to achieve a classy yet fun kitchen. I love the Spanish/ Moroccan tiles that are in style these days and would love to use them on the back splash and floor. Also, mostly got to go with black granite counter tops to survive Indian cooking. For top cabinets, If i got with white matte/hi-gloss(you can suggest which easy to maintain and look good) and wood veneer on bottom cabinets, would it be too busy and clash ? Please help me out with this. Thanks in advance.

Mustafa, my apologies for the delayed response! I've been thinking about your dilemma and this is what I've come up with. I'd make the most of the vertical space in the room so that you allow yourself maximum square footage for counter work space. If you're able to, I would suggest putting the refrigerator on the opposite wall (where the tall storage unit is in the sketch). Something similar to this:

Hi Nitin, Thanks for the valuable suggestion, but can you have some brief on why BWP ply-boar and why not BWR, majorly what is the difference amongst them, And you are telling for lamination, lamination of what (pvc lamination you are talking about) or some other, if pvc lamination then i heard and googled that pvc lamination color will get dull after some time and scratches can occur, whether we are having other lamination options which can resist long period of time. please majorly not consider price as blocker, i am going to Reno after 20 years so it would be the best from my side, please suggest consider durability, no dullness in color, and with strong panels. Hello suganya, You can cover the complete kitchen with the glass facade.. with semi opaque glass films.. over the island counter you can give a slider window of 2ft height so that you can be connected to the people in the dinning area whenever you want to.. this will allow you manage both the guest and the mess in the kitchen..

Hey Farooq, I understand your concern. I have a better idea. Drawing room and Living room does not need to be separated by a wall , you can just have a step up wooden flooring done in the drawing area to define the space. Also as per the plan what I have sent you, you can create a window where you existing Main door is and open up the Main door from drawing room as shown in red. If you still want want a wall between drawing room and living room then you can have it but it's just that I feel you can make your living room look big if you knock of the wall, or you can even create a partition with Jali work or you can even have a low height wall to just define the area. check out some of the images attached :)
