There is so much you can do with the rug. You can go with a modern feel by bringing in metals, glass and creams with pops of orange or greens. You can go mid century modern by emphasizing the orange or even traditional with woods and beiges with hints of colors. If this was my starting point for a room that just needs to be cozy and comfortable, I would do a statement bed with darker wood. I would keep the curtains very light, and also the bedding. As there is creams in the carpet, I would steer clear of white, but use off white / beige for the bedding and curtains. Then I would use the orange and greens as accents in the room. Hello KK, White and Brick Red combination may also look good besides the above suggestion. Ultima Protek is better and more lasting paint. Make sure you follow the painting instructions it should last for 8-10 years. It requires approx 4-5 coats of different dilutions and drying time of 6 hours between coats and avoid rainy seasons for painting. I would however like to clarify my requirements/dilemma a bit more. 1) The built/carpet area for this 3 BHK is about 1600 sqft (Superbuilt 1960 sqft). What is the appropriate tile size I need to scout for? More specifically, will Ultima-range-like huge tile sizes (i.e. 120x180cm2, 120x120cm2) be suitable for this area? 2) While I am thinking of white (based) tiles, I am not necessarily looking for super-white tones (it gives a bit of a commercial look, and will need extreme maintenance). Something more practical, and with some depth/dimension is what I am trying to identify. Any suggestions? 3) Would you advice that I consider other white-toned flooring options like Terrazzo (Bharat Floorings is having a Cast-in-Situ option, but I am yet to go to their showroom)? @Rock Doc: Are you addressing this to me? I haven't actually bought these tiles yet - when I do, I will definitely be going for the handmade ones. They're a work of art and irreplaceable in my opinion. However, there are also screen-printed tiles available in the market in more or less the same patterns; the workmanship is of course different, but you get them cheaper, and they're also more easily available. You could give that a shot. I'd recommend Aakaar Flooring Solutions - they're here on Houzz and are able to provide both the above-mentioned types.
