I think a comfortable distance between the island and the counter is around 42". It seems that you have only 30" between your cook top and the counter. I might be a little too tight. The wall between the entrance and the kitchen could be 4' long instead of 6', you would then be able to move the island a foot which would give you more room between the cook top and the island. Could you switch the location of the toilet and vanity in your dad's bathroom so your enter facing a vanity instead of a toilet which is a lot nicer.

I don't know if this is a feng shui thing too, but I sleep best in a room with my feet facing the direction of where the sun comes up (unfortunately that is the spare room and not the main bedroom). Agree you should walk in and see the foot of the bed.

The morning light in your room looks nice, but that seems to be coming from the bedroom area. I would suggest bright white paint on the window wall. One accent wall, preferably the one directly opposite the door wall since it will be in direct view when you enter. Paint it any colour you like but keep in mind to maintain the palette. It should be visible in the search you prepare for the other items. in case you are conflicted, go with wooden furniture and white or grey upholstery. If you are considering reflooring, I would suggest a neutral tone so you may have more options since the one you have now looks to be red which would limit your colour options. if you want more pattern to your flooring, geometric patterns in black and white add some form while maintaining that palette freedom. If however you wish for more colourful floors, I would suggest you decide on your palette before so you can choose wisely. Neutral tones also allow you to choose between a vast array of materials, from stone to tile to vinyl sheeting. if you want that wooden look without compromising on the waterproof property, you could look into vinyl sheets.
