Style - well that is a good question... I would say it is a modern contemporary urban style home, brick frontage etc... not a victorian style or anything like that. Have solid wood two tone staircase, with dark and natural color maple that stands out prominently when you enter the house. The rest of the house, the Kitchen etc is bit traditional, yet modern finish. Dark solid wood cabinets. I do have 9 foot ceiling but only 9', as that is the maximum that we are allowed to have in our neighborhood. I like to add bit of character and architectural personality to the house, but wasn't sure if wainscotting would in turn make the house look very aged, as we generally see them on older Victorian style homes. Or perhaps I am just mistaken in my limited knowledge about home styling and decor. I see soooo many different styles, which makes it so difficult to choose one because I like them all. So the challenge is to pick one that suits the best. Is it generally better to keep the stains neutral so that the wainscotting trim blend with the wall or will it stand out too much if I make panels that are stained dark. These are the questions that are holding me back from venturing in to this project. Any other comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Adrain, Again thanks for showing interest in my post. I have highlighted my plot on a piece of paper. There are two parts marked as L and R. As I told u earlier i am making on half of the plot size available to me. Either I can make on L or I can make it on R. There are no such restrictions on material to be used but in India we don't used wood to make outer walls. General practice here is to use bricks and cement. I am adding to photographs one is a piece of paper highlighting my part of plot and the other is the google map pic. I cuing highlight in tht but I have marked it with red my side of plot. If u can compare both the pics u might be able to figure out the whole idea of the place. As far as the servant room is concerned it is a small room with kitchen and sedate bathroom attacked to the room. It's generally very small and have no access to the main house. To give u an example the servant room may be of the size 10 feet by 15 feet which includes a small kitchen and bathroom including the room too. Shaleen

Generally you can do pretty much anything with a house if you have the time and money. with a limited budget it does limit what you can do especially for kitchen remodel costs. A kitchen renovation needs plumbing - where is it located in the garage now? Will you build your new kitchen etc on the existing concrete garage floor? If you build a new floor above the existing garage floor that may give you more options for remodeling. Let us know about these answers and we can try and give better advice. Also consider talking to a local kitchen contractor or kitchen cabinet shop - they may be able to answer many of your questions and you will want to talk with them eventually anyway for your project. And how about durability as a flooring option? I mean .. What is the expectancy of its shine, gel layer and life in general? In a nutshell is it a viable option for living room floor? And if yes, then would its edges match or would it still be like tiles where edges don't quite match?
