This wonderful water feature, of corten steel, was designed by landscape architect Julie Moir Messervy Design Studio, and fabricated by artist Peter Andruchow and sculptor Richard Duca. Yes, the water rill becomes a "hand rill" along the stairs that lead from upper garden to lower. All components were completely custom designed and built, with final adjustments made on site. Their design responded to the exact change in grade between the two levels of garden, the (limited) available space between the house and the property lines, and the goal of avoiding the mature existing trees and their roots. For more on the house and garden, see articles in Design New England (March/April 2015) and Garden Design (Spring 2015).
