Without seeing it nor the colour on your walls (which also plays a part), I would say you could take any one of the colours from your carpet as your colour for the upholstery. Yes you can choose two complementary colours for your upholstery but make sure they work tonally. (To do this take a picture of the colours and render them black and white; the colours for your upholstery - even if they are different - should have the same level of grey in the b&w photo).

Its a really lovely room! what a great place for kids to share. I like kids sharing rooms. I think you need another colour to tie it together. I would suggest a blue tone.... teal, navy blue, duck egg blue. to tie it together. Its a little to pale and looks sparse, but actually isn't. I would leave everything exactly as is, BUT, paint the back wall behind the bed teal and find a simple navy blue wall decal that is fun and kid- like maybe one with a sillouette of a boy and girl playing. I would paint the wall behind the sofa duck egg blue. Then I think it would suit both kids more and look more kid friendly. the blues will balance the pink and cream, but because you have a pale carpet i don't think it will look too dark. don't worry about making it totally kid like, its a room they will grow with, not a kindergarten, and it also needs to peaceful and restful for sleeping. besides with their art on the walls and bright toys everywhere it soon looks bright and kid like. You don't have to give up your beloved pink. Pink, brown and grey are doable. I googled pink and grey living room and saw some great pictures. Maybe get a large carpet that pulls out the pink (must match the same shade of pink). Then place your beautiful little pink and cream Kashmir(?) carpet over it. Also pull that same pink into sofa pillows. And a similar pink and brown Tablecloth for the dining table will pull the colours together. Just need to make sure all the pinks are the same shade with small accents/border of the same brown and grey from the sofa. Solid colours or subtle designs will be easier to coordinate than bold dramatic prints. These 2 are not the right shade of pink but you get the idea, I hope. Carpets with tone on tone pattern. A dusty rose on one wall would be nice too.

Greetings! The best option for in this case is using a wallpaper. You get a lot of different kind of wallpapers from Metallic ones to floral prints and some nice fabric texture ones too. Having a fabric on the wardrobe is a tedious and high maintenance. Since you will be constantly touching your wardrobe shutters, the fabric may get dirty and even catch stains due to moisture or any dirt. Wallpapers today are more effective and easy to clean and maintenance free. The advantage of having wallpapers is that you can replace them after few years if you are bored of them and the process is pretty easy.
