Need help for bedroom curtains

Hi,

I need some help urgently with the curtains for the window that is covered with this plain blue sheet (ignore the blue). I need something that goes with both my sofa upholstery and the wallpaper behind my bed.

I want something with some pattern because I think a plain colour would be too bland, which I can figure even from this bright blue.

I thought of an off white with just some motifs on it, but I'm not relay sure.

Please if possible add as many pictures for reference. It helps me to imagine better.

In that room, I would want custom drapes. If you go that route, a designer will be help you at no additional cost. The designer would bring fabric samples into your home further assisting you in finding the perfect look. I really don't think you will find anything ready made that will be even a close second for what that window needs.

There is a lot of pattern going on. I do not see any table lamps. It appears that you need accessories, and once you get these, it might help with the curtain choice.

Keya, glad you decided to take the one reader's idea about moving the armoires in front of windows that you don't need and giving the bed a wall of its own! And, yes, you can have Roman shades on one wall and layered drapes on the other. When I had drapes made for my tall sitting room windows/doors, I had them use the same fabric for the Roman shades for the smaller windows on the other wall. For me personally, in these older Indian homes with all the odd nooks and niches in the walls, perhaps it would be more soothing to have a light/med tone paint on the walls that blends with the drapes/blinds for an 'uninterrupted' look, and I would use the same color on ceiling and beams. (but that is just my thought) I would start the process with a large carpet with your favorite colors, then choose your Bedcover & cushions, then your wall paint and fabric for drapes/blinds ..Not certain what style you like, but if you really like a particular Ethnic bedcover fabric, you can always have them stitched into curtains or Roman shades too. Why not paint it in a pastel colour? Add a carved chest that doubles up as shoe rack and organiser to store your shoes below and hold keys and bills in top drawers. You could hang a painting or a statement mirror above the chest and highlight with wall sconces or beautiful table lamps to shine a soft light around it.

You could perhaps reverse the bed :) If not try this idea ,that blue will need to go its too stark for the window .

How can you hang drapes with bed? I'd go with dark wood blinds. Change bedding to a neutral.use pillows to pull in furniture, headboard and wallpaper.

I too, think that dark wooden blinds would be a good option. It would complement the dark ceiling and trim colors.

Please remove the wallpaper , paint your wall a nice warm taupe, get coordinating bedding and drapes , a geometric pattern or stripes in a rich green , or golden yellow , add cushions in that tone to your couch . I would make the drapes wide enough to close at night , but if you need the privacy then do semi sheers in the middle.

Hi,

I can't remove the wallpaper, I just got it done. And I need curtains that go with it. That blue covering the window is definitely going, its just a temporary sheet.

I am attaching a picture for an idea of the kind of drapes I am looking for.

What are you going to do with the bedding - it should be changed. It is difficult to recommend curtains, when there is so much pattern in the space.

The bedding was temporary and it definitely doesn't go with the room. I just feel plain curtains would not go with the wallpaper.

And I am not sure exactly how a print would look. If you could help me with a few reference pictures, maybe I can make a decision.

The drapes in the photo are custom. You will not find them in a store. You will need to have them made.

With that wallpaper I would suggest going with a striped fabric if you don't want something solid. Most of the other patterns will clash with your wallpaper. For the color, I would think of neutral colors, something soft that will blend with the room. Dark or bright colors might bring too much attention to the window.

You have the ceiling height to have a nice heavy rod just above the top of you window that could run the ceiling width. That will give you the space to draw curtains back to expose the entire window.

I highly suggest that you work with a designer. A good designer has access to literally thousands of fabric choices and will be able to help you in selecting the perfect fabric and design for your room.

Hi, Im planning on going with the suggestion given by Genevieve. Im thinking of taking the turquoise colour from my wallpaper and getting pink flowers embroidered on it. Let me know what you guys think.

And also I'd like to know what type of silk is best for curtains, and if there is anything I need to take care of while using silk.

Good !

but no to the pink flowers embroidered on the curtains unless you remove the wall paper :)

Use Dupioni silk but you will need to add lining to protect the fabric from fading and to get a bit of weight .
