Need help with my living room
Comments (138)Leather sofas can really dominate the room and can give an overall cold feeling. I would add some earthy elements, like a wood coffee table with glass or metal. Go to Restoration Hardware's website and look at their sofa room scenes. And I'm sorry I think the art is too harsh for the room. That's all your eye goes to in the room. too overpowering. I would look for something softer or maybe a cool mirror and I would add color to the room with pillows and some colorful lamps. I also think woven blinds would look great. They add warmth and give a finished look. The color of your window treatments should contrast your wall color a bit, not match it or else it starts to look generic and blah.. You have warm walls, warm floors and the woven blinds, like Hunter Douglas brand would pull it all together for you....See MoreNeed help to change the furniture of this master bedroom
Comments (13)Unfortunately, I do not have a photo for you and have been unsuccessful in downloading my sketch. I think I can explain better what I meant. Your window behind the bed cannot be centered behind the bed and presently looks a little awkward. To remedy this, I suggested framing it with wood trim and creating another "fake" window alongside of it also using wood trim to frame it. Both the fake and the real window would get two rows of louvered shutters, a top row and a bottom row. Obviously, the lovers on the fake window would remain permanently closed. They are there only to give the illusion of another window. The shutters on the bottom half of the real window would remain closed, but the louvers would open to allow light and air. The top shutter could open to access opening and closing the window but most of the time, just have the louvers open for light and air. You will have created a bank of window that your bed could be centered under and I think it would look nice. I would use a headboard with wood or metal spindles that allow the light and air from the real window to pass through, yet give you something to prop pillows against. I must say though, if you did not want to do this, I love the recently added photo by Anne dee with white drapes, gray walls and some framed pictures that really help balance the awkward window. That was a beautiful room and looks a lot easier to accomplish than my idea. From your photos, I am not quite sure you have enough wall space to do it exactly like that, but I am sure you could experiment with the concept and come up with something lovely based on that idea....See MoreLiving room
Comments (27)I like the room but it looks a bit empty. Possibly some contemporary low interesting cabinet on either side of the fireplace some organic baskets or metal vessels of some sort on top of the cabinets. It will fill in the bareness between cabinet and sconces. Roll down textured shades at the windows would add a nice fill in touch and add privacy and block light. Or simple linen floor to ceiling curtains on rods at ceiling height. Here are three rooms with free standing cabinets and long curtains at the windows. You might like these ideas for not. Art work could be under the scones with lamp for ambient lighting Again simeple cabinets and surprise, a TV stand too. This is a lovely idea too with the twigs; could change seasonally. I like the benches for warmth and texture and softness and the chandelier adds a dramatic touch. Good luck with your lovely room!...See MorePOLL: How do you setup a relaxing bedroom at home?
Comments (0)Hello Houzzers! After a hectic day's job, we all need (and crave) to have a good night's sleep... don't we? The designer/architect must have helped you in setting up the layout, the wall colours, temperature control etc. for a comfortable experience. But what extra do you do to create your own personal bedroom retreat that makes you feel cosy and calm? I cannot go to sleep in a cluttered bedroom. I choose cleanliness over everything. What do you do? Do you use diffusers for fragrance? Do you opt for comfy linen? Or do you play slow music to bed? Vote for your top hack and share details in the comments section to help other Houzzers! Thanks!...See MoreButton & Sprung
