One of the minor changes I'm making is to give another door /opening from the kitchen into the passage just outside the family room area so that the family needn't visit the dining area to access the family living space....regarding the laundry..its a regional thing..in India, the laundry is usually handled by the lady of the house and the maids! The other members of the family would place their soiled stuff in a wicker basket in their individual rooms and every day these would be collected,sorted & laundered by the mom/maid!
