HI RinaI do agree I love jewelbox rooms, but I consider them more cosy ... and with a grey marble floor it goes all Versace Italianate! I am trying to balance the colours by bringing in a pattern on the covers rather than plain. I feel this will bring colour without overpowering the room. In the pictures I showed above, the rooms are basically neutral but the colour is brought in via pattern - I think this might be the way to go...Ideally a green or blue on a subdued grey would be the best, but I dont know what the market is like for Sumit...Cushions can do a lot to tie in the other white/grey elements.Shelley - navy is a good suggestion, but as Sumits area is quite tall and thin, trying to keep the general area light Any more suggestions most welcome. These are just ideas after all and Sumit will choose what works for the room in the end ;-)

Hi Kajal, It's not at all necessary to break anything to renovate a house. All you need is a little imagination. It depends on how far you want to go with it. Just change the paint, renovate based on some theme, Change the furniture or use your old things and give them a new look. Do share some pictures of your home so I can suggest you something specific. Hi Zainaba, You may go for both American pleat curtains as well as roman cloth blinds for your window. 1] American Pleat Curtains These look lovely and add elegance and grace but have a tendency to "fly" with air circulation in the room. You can provide a weight chain to solve this issue. Also avoid giving lining to these curtains. Some of them such as linen and cotton curtains tend to shrink after being washed and their polyester/satin lining does not. In the process you may lose the shape of the curtain. Best to stitch the curtain and the black out lining separately and provide a two track curtain.Also keep the curtains length more than that of the window so that its bottom gets tucked in behind the bed back/headboard. It looks neater that way. Also, these can be easily removed and washed at home. 2] Roman Blinds Roman blinds are a neater option as far as window shades are concerned. The look graceful and showcase the fabric, its print and its make way better than the american pleat curtains. You may have to ask from few of your chosen architects. 2- Creativeness: If anyone has taken up a project they are expected to be putting in their professional creativeness. 3- Fees: Really varies a lot approx 50-500 per sqft. There are few students and part timers who would do a project for lesser.It's better you engage in a discussion with few architects and ask for their prices rather than guessing. 4- Iterations : Yes and No, usually designers will keep in mind a few iterations before providing an estimate. But if the numbers of iterations are way too many they may have to discuss the fee again with you. 5- Precautions: Do not consider an Architect /Designer fee as a one time fee only. They provide a service that stays with you and family for a life time. A small mistake in the plan will stay with the home for ages. Be as transparent as possible. Don't fall for online marketing gimmicks. Anyone who is cheap is for a reason. Word of mouth or personal recommendations are a good way to select any service provider. Be thoroughly prepared with what you need in terms of layout . See around, take pictures of what you like and present it to them in your discussions. Get involved - but that doesn't mean that you should interfere too much with their expertise. Its a creative art and any professional worth his salt should do a better job if they are given creative freedom . 6- If your entire focus is on the price you will push the professional to look in the project as cost project rather than a design project.
