There are several companies such as AGL, Johnson, Baba, Kalinga etc that makes engineered quartz in India. The choices of colors they offer also quite extensive. The prices of these quartz are not that much higher than good quality granite. So visit one of these showrooms to get a touch and feel of these materials.

It all depends on the budget you are looking at. As an architect i would give preference to granite over quartz any day. If your budget is INR 150-300 per sqft then go for south indian granites and if your budget is INR 500-1200 per sqft then go for Imported granite (Suggestions : Bianco Antico (in white), Blue Pearl (in dark blue-dark grey tone), Baltic brown : light+dark brown combination). As far as Kalinga quartz or any other brand quartz is concerned i find it not at all value for money, you'd end up spending INR 500+ sqft on something which is still in its experiment stage in India. The company is spending money on marketing and PR thats why new architects would promptly suggest quartz. I have heard enough complaints from home owners about quartz discoloration and bending. Fun fact : there is no warranty on any defects arising in quartz due to usage, which explains even the manufacturer of quartz dont want to take the responsibility of there own product. Hi Arpan, **if you are looking for a dramatic kitchen theme you can use wooden texture upper cabinets also in a darker wood tone like wallnut wood & use a glossy dark grey as base cabinets. Just make sure the space is well lit. ** go for glass panel overheard counter with a wooden laminate inside with light provision. This will make you kitchen look luxurious & open at same time. Use greys in bottom.  ** go for all whiter in overhead counter & wooden at below.  **go for an white overhead counter as well as base cabinets. Add fluted glass in overheard counter for breaking the monotony of white.  Take a look at the references
