It all depends on the budget you are looking at. As an architect i would give preference to granite over quartz any day. If your budget is INR 150-300 per sqft then go for south indian granites and if your budget is INR 500-1200 per sqft then go for Imported granite (Suggestions : Bianco Antico (in white), Blue Pearl (in dark blue-dark grey tone), Baltic brown : light+dark brown combination).
As far as Kalinga quartz or any other brand quartz is concerned i find it not at all value for money, you'd end up spending INR 500+ sqft on something which is still in its experiment stage in India. The company is spending money on marketing and PR thats why new architects would promptly suggest quartz.
I have heard enough complaints from home owners about quartz discoloration and bending. Fun fact : there is no warranty on any defects arising in quartz due to usage, which explains even the manufacturer of quartz dont want to take the responsibility of there own product.
