“This project in Vermont was my dream come true home and I wanted to incorporate everything that I wanted in to this project. Keith and Jeff were included early on in the planning of how the house and landscape worked together to integrate in to the natural landscape. There were alot of elements to work with - both the intimate scale close to the house and then the views out to the meadows and the lake. Any time we needed them for a meeting they were immediately on board. They stuck with the budget and offered suggestions on how to reduce costs and yet still meet our aesthetic requirements. They had a great relationship with our contractor and builder and I felt we worked really well together. I highly recommend them and will use them again on future projects. ”

“We would highly recommend Ginkgo's design team for anything from a small garden redesign to a large, full landscape structural design which included rock, walkways, ponds, fountains, trees and gardens - they can do it all. Perhaps the real strength of Ginkgo Design lies in their breath of abilities coupled with a real skill for listening to the client's tastes, needs and vision. Easy to work with and reasonable rates... honesty, I can't find one reason why you shouldn't give them a call.”

“We hired Charlotte Albers to help us design a garden in a totally open field on our property. Charlotte began the process by coming out to meet us to gather information about our ideas for the project. She then invited us to her home to see the kinds of vegetation that might be most suitable for our garden. After these meetings we received a draft of a landscaping plan for the area. We continued to dialogue with Charlotte over the next few weeks, until the final plan was completed. Charlote was wonderful at combining her knowledge with our vision to come up with the basis for what turned out to be an absolutely amazing Asian garden. The experience of working with Charlotte was wonderful from beginning to end, and we have only the highest regard for her expertise, sense of design and professionalism.”

Using her extensive knowledge of native plants, her design expertise, and excellent relationships with local contractors, she created the perfect setting for our house. “We hired Linden Landscaping after fairly extensive interviewing of landscapers and landscape designers to help create the hardscaping and gardens around our newly built home. We had the specific requirement of a company who could work closely with clients who like to garden and who wanted to be involved with both the design and planting process. Becca Lindenmeyr is an insightful designer! She posed issues that we would not have considered and created a gorgeous garden design based on our preferences. She is easy to work with, a perfectionist, thorough beyond belief...truly a professional! Her creativity is seemingly endless and her botanical knowledge superb. Tim Lindenmeyr is the other half of the Linden team. He built our fieldstone walkways, walls and patio. He is flexible to deal with and has a great, creative eye for stone. He also functions as crew chief and manages an effective, constantly working team. We must emphasize the professional quality of our interactions & service from Linden Landscaping. “Distinctive Landscaping changed our lives! We had lived on the shores of Lake Champlain for a dozen years or so, and every spring we cut back brush, attempted a lawn, and planted our version of a perennial bed. In August we would leave for a week, only to return to an overgrown tangle of vines, brush, rocks and dust! Enter Charlie Proutt! He walked the property with us one afternoon, asking about our lifestyle and our visions for our homescape, and then sitting around our kitchen table, Charlie chatted with us and with our very involved 10-year-old son. When Charlie came back, he had amazing ideas that incorporated our thinking —and oh-so-much more! It was uncanny how he had sensed the subtleties of the land, the shapes and curvatures imposed by our mature trees, the lakeside, and the challenges of our steeply sloping land down to the lakeside cliff—as if our rough and rocky land had communicated directly to him. Preserving our stately shagbark hickory trees, cedars, oaks, and sugar maples, Distinctive Landscaping changed our dirt into soil, our scrub brush into verdant shrubs, our parched areas into lush oases, our heavily shaded areas into a mix of dancing green hues and textures, our steep slope into gradual, natural rock steps—all subtly lit at night to enjoy year-round. Charlie then brilliantly expanded our straight, narrow terrace into curved outdoor spaces for gazing at the lake, dining alfresco, playful children, and good conversation. It was nothing short of a miracle! Along the way, our dreamed-for perennial bed became an awe-inspiring arc of imaginative plantings, our haphazard home entrance sported a newly formed parking area, blue stone paths, and an amazing new driveway through our magical woodland. For the first time, we could enjoy all sides of our home in all four seasons! And still, twenty years later we arrive home after a busy day and breathe in the beauty, the welcoming sunshine and cool shadows of beckoning greenery, the lovely spaces to gather together with family and friends, or to sit quietly and renew ourselves. Yes, twenty years later it is still magical, and we will forever thank Charlie Proutt, Eileen Schilling, and the crew at Distinctive Landscaping for their vision, their work ethic, their artistry, and their expertise.”

“Zach Berger Associates has ben designing and maintaining the landscaping of our property for the last several years. He has developed plans, modified them with our input, and then purchased, installed, and supervised each project. The grounds around our house have been transformed. Zach is an artist and he hires only the best people to work out the details. Zach created rock walls and steps that not only stabilized erosion on one side of our home, but provide an elegant transition from the front to the back yards. He hired a master craftsman to build a rock wall along the front entry of the house that is natural and truly lovely, and progress continued on this wall even in the midst of one of the snowiest winters in a decade. Zach hires people who get the job done and take pride in their work. One of the things I've appreciated the most is Zach's maintenance of our property. He anticipates what we might need and schedules work for each season that we can't manage ourselves. He comes out to personally check on the property and has a wonderful relationship with the people he hires. I can trust his judgment on plantings, on the design, and on the execution of his vision.
