He's was very knowledgeable of current trends and took my general ideas/needs and made suggestions based on that and put it into pictures for me to see very quickly. He knew the style that I wanted and gave me input on things that would look good - he added detail that I can't imagine living without (barrel ceiling, built-in cabinets, special utensil drawers). He followed up on the construction site and even pointed out when those details were accidentally left out - I had not even noticed!
