St John's Wood

Studio Stassano came face-to-face with this challenge when tasked to refurb a beautiful – but slightly botched – Regency period, semi-detached end-of-terrace property in the St John’s Wood Conservation Area in the City of Westminster. The project was to remodel the home fit for modern family living whilst maintaining its heritage charm - no simple task. As is the case with all London properties, the home generally lacked space, so it wasn’t enough to knock down the poor quality 1990’s side and rear extensions. Instead, to create the functional family home required, plans were drawn to replace the questionable extensions with a 2-storey side extension with an additional first floor, and a full width single-storey rear extension. The new take was constructed using period-appropriate materials to suit the character of the property.
