Placed within an idyllic beach community, this modern family home is filled with both playful and functional spaces. Natural light reflects throughout and oversized openings allow for movement to the outdoor spaces. Custom millwork completes the kitchen with concealed appliances, and creates a space well suited for entertaining. Accents of concrete add strength and architectural context to the spaces. Livable finishes of white oak and quartz are simple and hardworking. High ceilings in the bedroom level allowed for creativity in children’s spaces, and the addition of colour brings in that sense of playfulness. Art pieces reflect the owner’s time spent abroad, and exude their love of life – which is fitting in a place where the only boundaries to roam are the ocean and railways.

The small entry foyer that existed before was enlarged to create an arrival area. The wall separating the stair from the corridor was removed and a custom railing was substituted, opening the space up to create a reception area with an art gallery feel. This also helps to set the tone for the rest of the apartment. The photography is by the designer.

This elegant, two-story French manor encompasses 7200 square feet, plus a 900 square foot cabana beside the vanishing edge pool. Colored concrete terraces, inlaid with limestone borders, surround the house on three sides.
Importing many of the finish materials from old European estates, JMA's expert carpenters crafted the exquisite interior trim on site - five miles of millwork! The craftsmanship is evident in the cherry paneled library with its polished granite fireplace, as well as the cantilevered spiral staircase and foyer skylight, focal points in the round entry.
The home also incorporates state-of-the-art controls for the HVAC, electrical, security and communications systems.
Excavating the rocky soil site did not require blasting but did involve removing one rock the size of a small car!

Alair Homes Edmonton
Our client came to us for a major renovation of the old, small house on their property. 10 months later, a brand new 6550 square foot home boasting 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms, and a 25 foot vaulted ceiling was completed.
The grand new home mixes traditional craftsman style with modern and transitional for a comfortable, inviting feel while still being expansive and very impressive. High-end finishes and extreme attention to detail make this home incredibly polished and absolutely beautiful.
From the soaring ceiling in the entry and living room, with windows all the way to the peak, to a gourmet kitchen with a unique island, this home is entirely custom and tailored to the homeowners’ wants and needs. After an extensive design process including many computer-generated models of the interior and exterior, the homeowners’ decided on every detail before construction began. After fine-tuning the design, construction went smoothly and the home delivered the vision.
