The 2nd bathroom had a very bulky tub that killed the sense of space. We took it out, and made a seamless wet room out of the space. The shower, when not in use, open to the rest of the room, making the bath feel very spacious. The vanity is a series of wall mounted IKEA bookshelves. photo by tylermallory.com

An entry door that collided with the toilet and a tub enclosure that was unsightly were just the beginning of the issues the homeowner had with this bathroom. Besides needing to update the plumbing fixtures in this 1930’s home, a new layout was in order. The existing bathtub was very narrow, so finding a 27-1/2 wide fixture was one of our biggest challenges. The homeowner’s requested the style of the new bathroom to be in keeping with the age of this traditional home. By relocating the toilet to the other side of the room and tucking it behind the tub, the entry door can now fully open, plus the half wall acts as a privacy barrier. The old pedestal sink was replaced with a new large furniture style vanity with a beautiful marble counter top. Much needed lighting was added to the room, including two wall sconces on each side of the tilting mirror. The old windows were replaced and have an etched design on the glass to give privacy to the room without having to add a window treatment. A new clear glass shower surround allows for more natural light to enter the tub area, so bathing no longer feels like you are in a cave. A shampoo niche is tucked in the corner where soaps and hair care products are easily accessed when showering. The porcelain tile on the floor and shower walls mimics the look of travertine without the higher price of a natural stone. This bathroom still has its traditional charm, but with all the updated luxuries of a new bathroom.

This master bath was completely remodeled taken down to the studs. Originally it had a linen closet, jetted built-in tub and small shower. Now, it's an open spa-like, tranquil retreat. The shower is double the previous size and has a walk-in feature. The tub is a stand alone soaking tub. The vanity was purchased from an antique store and then turned into a vanity. It is a combination of contemporary meets classic with the floor to ceiling marble and the chandelier above the bathtub even the fixtures have a classic yet contemporary line.

This project was completed for clients who wanted a comfortable, accessible 1ST floor bathroom for their grown daughter to use during visits to their home as well as a nicely-appointed space for any guest. Their daughter has some accessibility challenges so the bathroom was also designed with that in mind. The original space worked fairly well in some ways, but we were able to tweak a few features to make the space even easier to maneuver through. We started by making the entry to the shower flush so that there is no curb to step over. In addition, although there was an existing oversized seat in the shower, it was way too deep and not comfortable to sit on and just wasted space. We made the shower a little smaller and then provided a fold down teak seat that is slip resistant, warm and comfortable to sit on and can flip down only when needed. Thus we were able to create some additional storage by way of open shelving to the left of the shower area. The open shelving matches the wood vanity and allows a spot for the homeowners to display heirlooms as well as practical storage for things like towels and other bath necessities. We carefully measured all the existing heights and locations of countertops, toilet seat, and grab bars to make sure that we did not undo the things that were already working well. We added some additional hidden grab bars or “grabcessories” at the toilet paper holder and shower shelf for an extra layer of assurance. Large format, slip-resistant floor tile was added eliminating as many grout lines as possible making the surface less prone to tripping. We used a wood look tile as an accent on the walls, and open storage in the vanity allowing for easy access for clean towels. Bronze fixtures and frameless glass shower doors add an elegant yet homey feel that was important for the homeowner. A pivot mirror allows adjustability for different users. Select Studios; This bathroom went from a chopped up builder boring space to a glamorous, symmetrical space that fit the needs and lifestyle of a sophisticated couple. We used a combination of travertine, glass and stone mosaic, and quartz mosaic tiles on the floor and walls to add lots of drama, and ripped out the old cabinetry and drop in tub in exchange for well built custom cabinets with granite tops and vessel sinks and a free standing tub. The shower doubles as a sauna. The space is finished off with the chandelier that is the focal point of the room.

This project represents an increasingly popular type of project - combining 2 bedrooms into a single master suite. The house is a 1910 craftsman, with 4 bedrooms on the second floor. Typical of older homes, the master bedroom had a very small bathroom, and very little closet space. The owners decided to sacrifice an adjacent guest bedroom to create a spacious master suite. The new rooms include a large bathroom, with hers and his vanities, separate toilet room, custom tile shower and soaking tub. The extra space also allowed us to install a luxurious custom walk-in closet. Design Criteria: - Increase size and utility of closet space. - Create a large, luxury bathroom with distinctly separate hers/his spaces. Special Features: - Custom tile shower, with frameless glass door - Platform soaking tub w/ custom tile deck - His/Hers vanities with quartz countertops. - Separate toilet room. - Room-sized walk-in closet with custom cabinet system. - Custom 5-Panel doors and built-up mouldings to match the original woodwork.

For the bathroom tile, the clients chose our Barcelona La Merced Quarter 6"x6" tiles to create a bright Mediterranean shower. The coordinating blue trim ties in the tiles from the bathroom into the shower. Also used in the bathroom were our Barcelona La Merced 6"x6" tiles for the entire lower half of this bathroom wall. Smaller La Merced 3"x3" tiles create a lovely border along the top. Coordinating blue cornice and liner tiles add a nice contrast along the edges of the decorative tiles. Our Yucatan Ceramic Field Tile collection, and its extensive molding and trim options, were used for this bathroom’s backsplash.

A master bathroom in need of an update was modernized with a barn door, new vanity and modern natural tile selections. We were able to create a bathroom space which include warm colors( wood shelves, wall color, floor tile) and crisp clean finishes ( vanity, quartz, textural wall tile). There were 2 benches included for seating in and out of large shower enclosure.
