Upside Development
Upside Development completed an contemporary architectural transformation in Taylor Creek Ranch. Evolving from the belief that a beautiful home is more than just a very large home, this 1940’s bungalow was meticulously redesigned to entertain its next life. It's contemporary architecture is defined by the beautiful play of wood, brick, metal and stone elements. The flow interchanges all around the house between the dark black contrast of brick pillars and the live dynamic grain of the Canadian cedar facade. The multi level roof structure and wrapping canopies create the airy gloom similar to its neighbouring ravine.

A 1,000 s.f. addition on top of a 1930's Tudor cottage without overwhelming it. Matched rooflines and proportions and designed in the spirit of the original home. Front door used to be facing to the side, so was relocated. A new gentle oak stair to the new second floor comes down just inside the front door. Contractor was Chris Viney, of Britman Construction, and photographer was Philip Wegener Photography

I had the pleasure of photographing this fully restored home over looking Port Townsend. The construction company, Little and Little completely restored all the fine wood work and fixtures. The homeowner is the world's largest collector of turn of the century bicycles.

The exterior of the home was finished in a tan colored brick with a slurry coating that gave it a worn look. The second story windows burst through the cornice and draw your attention upward to the facade of this beautiful home. On the top you will see two finials that are common on top of French homes.

Amaryllis is almost beyond description; the entire back of the home opens seamlessly to a gigantic covered entertainment lanai and can only be described as a visual testament to the indoor/outdoor aesthetic which is commonly a part of our designs. This home includes four bedrooms, six full bathrooms, and two half bathrooms. Additional features include a theatre room, a separate private spa room near the swimming pool, a very large open kitchen, family room, and dining spaces that coupled with a huge master suite with adjacent flex space. The bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs flank a large entertaining space which seamlessly flows out to the second floor lounge balcony terrace. Outdoor entertaining will not be a problem in this home since almost every room on the first floor opens to the lanai and swimming pool. 4,516 square feet of air conditioned space is enveloped in the total square footage of 6,417 under roof area.
