Whole-house remodel and addition. Our clients love gardening and bought this house for its unusually large yard and privacy. We added a large family room, kitchen and master suite which are all designed to feel surrounded by the garden, and to create good outdoor places, while not intruding too much into the garden. Sightlines through the house are an important driver of the design. High clerestory windows of several types give a sense of connection to the sky as well, and integrate with vaulted ceilings of various shapes. The house is a mix of styles and types of materials, full of color and whimsy. Saikley Architects worked closely with the clients to shape the space and to allow for the clients’ choices beautiful materials inside and outside. The house is heated by a radiant hydronic system.

This waterfront French Eclectic home anchors a long promenade from the street. Along the formal oil-and-stone drive with granite detailing, an extensive allay of linden trees stretches toward the main façade in the distance. A detached garage and generator building flank the driveway and hint at the architecture of the house beyond. Woodruff Brown Photography

This project infills between an existing log barn-shaped house and a 3 car garage. The addition adds a new entry, stair tower to loft observatory, a living room, dining room and master suite. The design is complementary to the existing structure and is angled at 45 degrees to frame a view of Mount Rainier. Photography: Drager Architecture Construction: Mike Schwartz

Santa Cruz, CA - This custom architectural garage door and gate project in the Northern California area was designed in a Spanish Colonial style and crafted by hand to capture that charming appeal of old world door craftsmanship found throughout Europe. The custom home was exquisitely built without sparing a single detail that would engulf the Spanish Colonial authentic architectural design. Beautiful, hand-selected terracotta roof tiles and white plastered walls just like in historical homes in Colonial Spain were used for this home construction, not to mention the wooden beam detailing particularly on the bay window above the garage. All these authentic Spanish Colonial architectural elements made this home the perfect backdrop for our custom Spanish Colonial Garage Doors and Gates.
