We were hired to select all new fabric, space planning, lighting, and paint colors in this three-story home. Our client decided to do a remodel and to install an elevator to be able to reach all three levels in their forever home located in Redondo Beach, CA. We selected close to 200 yards of fabric to tell a story and installed all new window coverings, and reupholstered all the existing furniture. We mixed colors and textures to create our traditional Asian theme. We installed all new LED lighting on the first and second floor with either tracks or sconces. We installed two chandeliers, one in the first room you see as you enter the home and the statement fixture in the dining room reminds me of a cherry blossom. We did a lot of spaces planning and created a hidden office in the family room housed behind bypass barn doors. We created a seating area in the bedroom and a conversation area in the downstairs. I loved working with our client. She knew what she wanted and was very easy to work with. We both expanded each other's horizons. Tom Queally Photography

Board & VellumBoard & Vellum
The owner of this 1960s, low-slung house challenged Board & Vellum to give it a major overhaul. Located across from Puget Sound, the house already had a lot to offer but the dated style, low ceilings, tight spaces and interior walls that blocked Sound views kept it from fulfilling its full potential. Board & Vellum gutted and reimagined the whole house, giving it a more traditional style. The interior—previously quite dark, thanks to brick- and wood panel-clad walls—was transformed with white trim, bright detailing (such as the hand-glazed tile in the kitchen), and plenty of built-in casework for the homeowner to display the travel mementos she collected throughout her career in the airline industry. Removing a fireplace in the center of the house and opening up the floorplan through to the staircase and entryway lets light flood in and allows for water views from across the main living area and kitchen. The exterior of the house received a dose of character with brick, corbels, and a curved eyebrow roof above the front entry, which also gave the home office area its distinctive barrel ceiling. The new master bedroom suite was amazing, but their old furniture was a disaster in it. We recommended a light honey and slate gray color scheme, with black accents. When we added the new gray faux silk headboard that was deeply tufted with light golden buttons, the client asked for an identical bench. Asymmetrical window treatments gently flank the bed, with a matching pair in the sitting room.
