Dining lounge

Another one of the challenges were the various flooring materials throughout the house. The living room and the bedrooms had a 1’x1’ beige ceramic tile, the kitchen and utility had vitrified flooring and the balcony had a dark brown mosaic. We decided to unify the space with just one material across the whole main floor, for which we used engineered wood that was laid over the existing flooring, thereby cutting cost. As this was a small apartment, we decided to paint all the walls white to make the space seem much larger than it is, and the black skirting gives it contrast and definition. The ceiling of the dining was painted a nefarious flat black which made the ceiling seem unending but brought a lot of warmth into in an all white room. Using black is obnoxiously simple and yet has this sense of abandon.
